Mental health is not a well spoken about topic. Yes I’m more today’s society it is spoken about more but its not fully excepted. I think its time that we started to except our own mental health problems as well as excepting other.
Having had to deal with my own mental health at the beginning of the year and taking a gap year out of university it has occurred to me that we often miss the signs in others who are struggling. The signs are the little and simplistic things that we quite often put down to people being mardy, being lazy. The thing is this is in fact signs and what people don’t think to do is actually question it.
From the outside we appear mardy, and most of the time we are having a silent battle with ourselves, these battles at the time are the hardest things that we have dealt with and most of us hold on to the hope that it will get better and that come a few weeks we will be happy again. But through the course of those weeks we can often withdraw ourselves from social situations, we will make up excuses so that we don’t have to go because we not have the energy to face others. We become “lazy” because we are using all of our energy throughout the day putting on a smile and pretending that we are okay when inside we feel the world most of the time is a better place without us…. So for those of you that are struggling i can assure you; that you are not lazy you are doing so much more work than you think you are doing, you are worth so much, and i know it doesn’t feel like it but there is so much out there for you to someday claim and make your own. And no matter how hard things get or how much you loose sight of the end of the tunnel the light is always going to be there waiting for you to emerge even stronger than before.
